Hello
My name is Ignacio Cea, and I conduct philosophical research on consciousness, particularly at the intersection with neuroscience and psychology, now expanding to include artificial intelligence and psychiatry. I explore questions such as: What is the relationship between consciousness and brain activity? Does consciousness have irreducible causal power? Does it perform a function in behavior and cognition? Is the affective dimension of consciousness fundamental to it? Is consciousness inextricably related to being alive? Could machines have it? (and a long etc).
I am a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Fellow at the Center for Research, Innovation and Creation, and the Faculty of Religious Sciences and Philosophy, Temuco Catholic University, Chile. Previously, I was a postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Social and Cognitive Neuroscience, School of Psychology, Universidad Adolfo Ibañez, Chile (2020-2022). I earned a Master’s degree (2014) and PhD in Philosophy (2019) at Alberto Hurtado University, Chile. I did a couple of research visits abroad during my master's and doctoral studies (Argentina and Australia), done plenty of academic presentations at conferences worldwide and have published many high-quality papers and chapters. Also, I have taught many courses at various Chilean universities over the last ten years. Feel free to review my CV for more details, as well as my section on research papers (still being completed). Soon, I will also have a teaching section and more! Do not hesitate to contact me if you are interested in my research or would like to collaborate.
